Suzanna Valdez is Vice President of Advancement for the Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts. She previously served as Chief of Staff to City of Miami Mayor, Manny Diaz and started her career in Miami with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, where she served as Miami Program Director.
Suzanna began her career in public service career in Washington, D.C. first, serving in the U.S. House of Representatives then serving in the Senate as Special Assistant to then-Senator Al Gore. President Clinton appointed her to the White House Office of Public Liaison to serve as Special Assistant to the President. In President Clinton’s second term, Suzanna was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Labor. She then moved to New York to pursue a graduate degree while serving as Associate Director of the Eugene M. Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School. Upon completing her graduate degree, Suzanna served as Executive Director of the Task Force on Television Measurement for Nielsen Media Research.
Suzanna currently serves on the following boards and advisory committees: First Focus, TEDxMiami founder and curator, Miami Foundation Fellows Selection Committee and the Hispanic Leadership Advisory Committee for Nielsen Media Research.
Suzanna holds an MPA from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
