Saif Y. Ishoof, Esq. is the Vice President of the Office of Engagement since May 2015. Previously he was the Executive Director of City Year Miami where he lead the organization’s staff, oversees the operations and provides support to the Board of Advisors. Under Saif’s tenure the organization has more than doubled in size and scope with an expansion from 8 schools to 17 schools. City Year provides 17-24 year olds an opportunity to serve full-time for a year in high-need schools as tutors, mentors, and role-models in addressing the achievement gap.
Saif earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law.
Saif’s professional career includes having been a startup technology entrepreneur and as an executive in the agricultural and engineering space. Prior to City Year, Saif served as the CEO of FCT Technologies Corp, a firm involved in renewable energy, crop science and water resource management.
Saif serves as co-founder and trustee of EmergeUSA a national organization committed to creating civically empowered Muslim Americans. Saif is also a graduate of America’s Leaders of Change, a program of the National Urban Fellows. Saif served as a member of the Public Health Trust, which is the oversight body for Jackson Memorial Hospital. Saif is a past Chairman of the Miami Dade County Asian American Advisory Board and a graduate of Leadership Florida Class 28. In the international realm, Saif participated in a US State Department exchange to Turkey of Young American/Young Turkey leaders as part of a public diplomacy initiative. Saif was named a “20 Under 40” Leader by the Miami Herald in 2010, a 2010 Diversity Leader by the American Jewish Committee (Miami). In 2012 Saif was named a Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leader of the Year. Saif was also named in 2012 as “Rising Star” leader by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. Saif was also recognized by the University of Miami School of Law Alumni Association as the Distinguished Leader of 2013. Saif was named in 2011 and 2012 by Poder Magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Miami”. Saif was named by the ADA as a 2013 “Father of the Year.” In 2012, Saif co-Founded a technology entrepreneurship initiative called TekFight to empower young innovators in Miami.
Saif and his wife Amira are the proud parents of two children, Rania and Nabeel. Saif’s personal and professional career has been defined by a commitment to developing young people, building civic institutions, international dialogue, and entrepreneurship.
