Laurel O’Sullivan, J.D. is the Principal and Founder of the Advocacy Collaborative, LLC (“TAC”). Laurel started TAC to empower more nonprofits to establish advocacy as a strength. With her signature AdvocacyForward framework she assists nonprofits to position advocacy as a core leadership function.
Prior to founding TAC, Laurel spent nearly two decades leading and advocating on behalf of nonprofits and philanthropy. As the Vice President for Policy at Donors Forum, a membership association of grantmakers, nonprofits, and advisors in Illinois, Laurel pioneered a new policy advocacy direction for its 1,200 nonprofit and philanthropic members while increasing funding an average of 250% per year for 6 consecutive years for a total of $2.2 million. She has also served as a staff attorney, project manager and legal counsel for the Natural Resources Defense Council, Alliance for the Great Lakes, Business and Professional People for the Public Interest and Terris, Pravlik and Millium, LLP.
Laurel speaks and presents frequently about nonprofit advocacy at numerous national academic and professional conferences and institutes including Independent Sector, the Council on Foundations, the National Council of Nonprofits, Board Source and the Kellogg School for Nonprofit Executive Education at Northwestern University.
