Joan Parker is President & CEO of the Counterpart Network, including Counterpart International and the Social Sector Accelerator. The Counterpart Network equips local organizations and networks to become solution creators across sectors and geographies. Just last year, The Counterpart Network coached more than 2,100 organizations and networks across 30 countries – with impacts in improved governance, health, agriculture, education and natural resource management. Counterpart is now innovating with thematic and regional networks that deliver peer-to-peer learning and capacity building, and is creating a collaborative support infrastructure for the social sector.
Trained as an applied economist, Joan has spent over 25 years in community and economic development. She enjoys working at the intersection of disciplines, and in early years convened unlikely partners to solve emerging challenges in such areas as microfinance, multi-sectoral HIV/AIDS response, childhood nutrition, and early phases of corporate social responsibility. She is delighted to see these early discussions progress into full-blown fields of excellence which deliver replicable systemic solutions.
