Alfredo Mesa serves as Vice President and Executive Director of the Marlins Foundation. In this role, he leads the charitable giving of the Miami Marlins and helps guide the team’s values driven commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and civic engagement.
Prior to joining the Marlins, he served as Vice President and helped manage the Miami office of Dutko Worldwide, a public policy management firm with headquarters in Washington D.C. His practice focused on assisting clients with their policy development, advocacy, communications strategy and business development objectives. Prior to joining Dutko, Alfredo served as Executive Director of the Cuban American National Foundation.
Alfredo also served as Director of Public Affairs for former Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas. During his twelve years of county service, Alfredo was an advisor to the Mayor on administrative matters, policy development, constituent services, media strategy and community relations. In this role, he helped lead community efforts to bring major events to South Florida such as the Latin GRAMMYS and the MTV Video Music Awards.
Alfredo earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University in Public Administration. In addition to supporting humanitarian causes in Cuba, he is active on the boards of the American Red Cross South Florida Region, Camillus House, a non-profit organization that provides services to poor and homeless men, women and children, and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami.
